Sea Otter is a 1984 Tayana 37. She displaces about 20 ton, and is considered a heavy displacement vessel. The displacement and double-ended design, make her “sea kindly”. Her cutter rig make her easy to handle in heavy weather. Her size is suitable for sailing double handed on long passages. She may be a bit slow compared to other vessels, but she makes up for it in comfort and easy sailing.

Sea Otter’s crew consist of Teri Jones and Britt Solomon. Generally Teri does the navigation as well as her paintings, while Britt handles the sailing and maintenance. Watches for long passages (destinations that are more than 12 hours away) are done on 3 hour on, and 3 hour off watches. We find this watch pattern easier on the body and mind. We generate a log when we can post them on the web. You can view the latest Log of Sea Otter here.
